En el camino de aprendizaje para convertirse en un ´´hombre de conocimientos´´ el aprendiz se enfrentará a cuatro enemigos: el miedo， la claridad， el poder y la vejez。 Carlos Castaneda sucumbió ante el primero。 Carlos Castaneda era poco mas que un personaje enigmático y debemos suponer que lo poco que se sabe sobre su vida privada es lo que él mismo ha revelado como cierto。 Supuestamente nació un 25 de diciembre de 1925 en Juqueri， São Paulo， Brasil aunque su registro de inmigración lo sitúan 10 En el camino de aprendizaje para convertirse en un ´´hombre de conocimientos´´ el aprendiz se enfrentará a cuatro enemigos: el miedo， la claridad， el poder y la vejez。 Carlos Castaneda sucumbió ante el primero。 Carlos Castaneda era poco mas que un personaje enigmático y debemos suponer que lo poco que se sabe sobre su vida privada es lo que él mismo ha revelado como cierto。 Supuestamente nació un 25 de diciembre de 1925 en Juqueri， São Paulo， Brasil aunque su registro de inmigración lo sitúan 10 años antes en Cajamarca， Perú。 Tuvo un breve paso por Argentina y luego se iría a los Estados Unidos donde se nacionalizaría terminando así sus estudios secundarios e ingresando posteriormente a la Universidad de California donde estudiaría antropología。 Además haría otros cursos pasando por la psicología， el periodismo y la literatura。 Estos datos pueden variar o ser cuestionados ya que él mismo se encargó de ocultar gran parte de su vida privada， además de que era esquivo ante las cámaras o las entrevistas。 Según Castaneda， en 1960 siendo aun estudiante de antropología en la Universidad de California， había hecho varios viajes al sudoeste de la región con la intención de recabar información sobre ciertas plantas medicinales utilizadas por los indios de la zona。 Un día mientras esperaba con un amigo en una estación de autobuses， este le señaló un viejo indio mexicano que se hallaba allí cerca y le comentó que aquel anciano sabía mucho sobre plantas， sobre todo del peyote。 Castaneda pidió a su amigo que se lo presentara y después de un breve momento aquel hombre se presentaba ante Carlos Castaneda como Juan （Matus， según se sabe）。 A partir de ese momento crucial en la vida del estudiante de antropología empezaría lo que hoy se conocen como ´´Las enseñanzas de don Juan´´。Este libro se divide en dos partes: una primera parte muy buena， con un montón de cosas por analizar y una segunda parte que tira toda la primera a la basura。 ¿Cómo es esto？ Bueno， según Castaneda su aprendizaje con don Juan le serviría para su tesis en la universidad incluso afirma haberse recibido gracias a este trabajo。 Por ello después de una excelente primera parte con la presentación de un universo místico completamente nuevo para nuestros sentidos， durante la segunda parte se encarga de refutar todo cuanto él como aprendiz ha vivido。 Por supuesto se entiende que esto vendría a ser una especie de trabajo de campo antropológico hasta donde entiendo， y que todas estas vivencias ´´mágicas´´ （y el termino se queda corto） eran productos de elaborados y complicados rituales con plantas y hongos alucinógenos。 Pero quizá， tan solo quizá; por esta vez hubiera estado bueno quedarse con unas cuantas preguntas y llegar nosotros mismos a alguna especie de conclusión。 También es cierto que este es un primer libro de una serie de nueve tomos mas。 Pero es esencialmente en este donde don Juan después de haber aceptado a Carlos como su aprendiz， este último inicia un camino de aprendizaje para convertirse en un ´´hombre de conocimientos´´ que después de cinco años y de una experiencia para nada buena， Castaneda cree que ha sucumbido ante el primer enemigo natural de un aprendiz: el temor。 Por esta razón decide abstenerse de seguir buscando sus lecciones。SINOPSIS: ´´Como Lázaro vuelto de la tumba´´ （dijo algún crítico）， un antropólogo narra la primera etapa del aprendizaje que lo convertirá en ´´hombre de conocimientos´´ bajo la guía de un brujo yaqui。 Con diversos medios， don Juan sumerge a su discípulo en una ´´realidad no ordinaria´´， tan objetiva como la cotidiana pero totalmente distinta， inexplicable para nuestros esquemas de pensamiento pero no para la sabiduría antigua que el maestro transmite con impecable coherencia lógica y poética。 Así， al tiempo que socava la ´´descripción del mundo´´ en que Castaneda ha creído， don Juan propone otra –vasta， maravillosa， terrible- y， con lecciones prácticas， enseña a habitarla desde el nivel mas inmediato。 Conforme pierde defensas， el aprendiz va experimentando el estado de ser al que lo llevan las enseñanzas， la ´´vida del guerrero´´， y sucumbe ante el primer enemigo de un hombre de conocimiento: el temor。 No fue， sin embargo， una derrota definitiva: Castaneda reanudó su aprendizaje y ha publicado otros dos libros sobre él， considerados， como Las enseñanzas de don Juan， clásicos contemporáneos。 。。。more

I heard， of Carlos Castaneda， three years， before graduating from high school。 My father， warned me， on reading his books。 By the late， 1990's， I had read， book 1， and 2， and skipped， books， 3， and 4， and started reading， Mr。 Castaneda's book 5。 I was not， doing illegal drugs， when I read book 5。 I was alone， with the book， enjoying a sunny day， at the beach， when， after closing my eyes， as I sunbathed， I started seeing images， evolve， from my eyelids。 On Friday， one week before Easter， 2018， I I heard， of Carlos Castaneda， three years， before graduating from high school。 My father， warned me， on reading his books。 By the late， 1990's， I had read， book 1， and 2， and skipped， books， 3， and 4， and started reading， Mr。 Castaneda's book 5。 I was not， doing illegal drugs， when I read book 5。 I was alone， with the book， enjoying a sunny day， at the beach， when， after closing my eyes， as I sunbathed， I started seeing images， evolve， from my eyelids。 On Friday， one week before Easter， 2018， I became sick， in South America， after eating， spoiled Guava， with worms， alive， within the fruit。 My week， was normal， until I found myself， feeling， progressively sick， and passing out， by Easter Sunday。 I went to an emergency ward， and was warned， my immune system， was weakened， and was told， to take rest， along with water， food， and vitamins， which I did not crave。 I felt gravely ill， for five days。 Eating regularly， although I had lost， my sense of taste。 I also， did not， crave food， nor did I feel， the strength， to get out of bed， or leave my apartment。 When another doctor， checked on my health， three weeks later， the medic， said， I had survived， malaria。 I bring this up， because some of what Don Juan， and Carlos Castaneda， describe， occur， in near life and death， experiences。 It is a book， to be read， with caution， due to the paranormal， aspects， it describes， as lived， and passed on， from generation， to generation， of Hispanics， in South America， and around the world。 。。。more

Reseñar este libro es un poco complejo porque al terminarlo， uno inevitablemente cae en la cuestión de si se trata de una obra de literatura fantástica （que yo， personalmente catalogaría de inmediato como realismo fantástico） o un tratado de antropología。 Uno （en medio de su infinita ignorancia del tema） podría arriesgarse a decir que lo uno no desvirtúa lo otro， pero si aceptamos esto ultimo como la descripción última del libro， se encuentra con dos formas de ver este trabajo:1。 Como obra de li Reseñar este libro es un poco complejo porque al terminarlo， uno inevitablemente cae en la cuestión de si se trata de una obra de literatura fantástica （que yo， personalmente catalogaría de inmediato como realismo fantástico） o un tratado de antropología。 Uno （en medio de su infinita ignorancia del tema） podría arriesgarse a decir que lo uno no desvirtúa lo otro， pero si aceptamos esto ultimo como la descripción última del libro， se encuentra con dos formas de ver este trabajo:1。 Como obra de literatura corriente， la segunda parte mata por completo cualquier sensación fantástica que sabe sembrar muy bien la primera parte。 De hecho， en la primera mitad del libro uno asiste a la creación de un universo rico en posibilidades， dada la predisposición natural que Carlos Castaneda tiene para describir los estados oníricos inducidos por el uso de psicotrópicos。 las vivencias， momentos y experiencias son ricas en descripción y matices y hace tener una clara visión de lo que sucede en un mundo aparentemente caótico， pero lleno de sensaciones y visiones。 Como argumento fundamental que tengo para resaltar mi punto positivo de la primera parte era la constante interrelación que Don Juan hacia de las experiencias con los aliados y Mezcalito con vivencias cotidianas que dejan mensajes poderosos y muy personales que aplican en cualquier sentido de la vida （excepto en el clarísimo machismo rampante que este personaje nos apuntaba en muchísimas ocasiones y que en los tiempos mas modernos queda totalmente sin fundamento）。 Sin embargo， como ya dije， en la segunda parte al intentar realizar una análisis antropológico de los hechos ocurridos en los relatos iniciales， la magia se esfuma y te quedas viendo un conglomerado de sensaciones que va desde la aburrición hasta la apatía: Carlos Castaneda se encarga de asesinar cualquier resquicio de valoración literaria de su propia obra con esta segunda parte。2。 La segunda forma de ver este trabajo es desde el punto de vista antropológico， de lo que me tengo que cuidar muchísimo al hablar porque de ello no conozco nada。 Sin embargo， por medio de la conversación con personas mucho mas versadas en el asunto， puedo compartir que en esta segunda visión también hay un fallo enorme porque es precisamente la primera parte la que termina desvirtuando la segunda: es imposible tener un rigor investigativo contundente cuando documentas tus sensaciones individuales en algo tan poco objetivo como son los estados desencadenados por substancias。 Los detractores mas férreos de este libro como fuente de conocimiento basado en la ciencia， critican que el señor Castaneda no estudiara desde afuera el efecto no biológico （interior） sino social （exterior） de los rituales que se describen desde un punto de vista ajeno y por lo tanto objetivo。 Sin embargo， desde el punto de vista de conocimiento espiritual， podría decirse que la obra está bien cargada de argumentos， unos muy realistas y en otros planos que hacen de este un buen libro， en mi criterio。¿Me gustó？ definitivamente si。 Aunque hubiera sido， desde mi punto de vista， mucho mejor si se dejaba aparte el rigor de la segunda mitas y se hubiese concentrado en describir por mas tiempo las experiencias y anécdotas ya no desde un una documentación sino desde una experiencia de vida y del alma。 para mí un claro 3。5 。。。more

Reread it after a zillion years， because I always remembered how he practised falling asleep in his dreams。 It is not in this book， apparently， but enjoyed it anyhow。 I recommend reading it for our younger generations， doing all random drug experimenting， without fully grasping the effects of that。

There are two ways of approaching Castaneda。 You can worry about the factual discrepancies in his stories， and the debate that surrounds him， and then let that tait your reading。 Or， you can immerse yourself in this strange and wonderful work。 When I was young my life was changed by some of the deep and beautiful spiritual thoughts behind much of what Don Juan teaches。 the prose is sparse and lyrical， the landscape and the old man himself as dry and teak-hard as you could wish。 The final chapter There are two ways of approaching Castaneda。 You can worry about the factual discrepancies in his stories， and the debate that surrounds him， and then let that tait your reading。 Or， you can immerse yourself in this strange and wonderful work。 When I was young my life was changed by some of the deep and beautiful spiritual thoughts behind much of what Don Juan teaches。 the prose is sparse and lyrical， the landscape and the old man himself as dry and teak-hard as you could wish。 The final chapter on his night of horror confronting things he couldn't fully explain or describe is very vivid and disturbing。 It will lead to sleepless nights。 I was stunned by this book then， and yet disappointed now to find that it could be little more than fiction。 if you can overcome that and read it for the spiritual messages， it is still very rewarding。 I recommend the whole series but the best of them is this book and Journey to Ixtlan。 。。。more
